Root Canal Treatment is performed when a large cavity has reached the nerve chamber of the tooth. Under this treatment, we will remove the dead or damaged nerves in the root of the tooth and then fill the empty space with sealing material.  Often after getting this treatment, we will fit the affected tooth with a crown so that it remains stable and less likely to fracture or become re-infected.

Alternatives to root canal treatment include extraction of the tooth/ teeth and replacement with dentures, bridges, or implants. The advantage of getting a root canal treatment is that it allows you to retain your natural tooth.

The root canal treatment is usually done over two or three appointments where we will drill a hole in the tooth and gain access to its nerve chamber. This allows us to clear the infection and remove the dead tissues. After performing this cleaning, we fill the tooth to ensure that it does not get infected again.
